I'm not quite sure how to categorize this one. Most of the surface area is painted, but it feels much more like sculpture than a painting... Suggestions are welcome!

I had this idea of making some kind of wallsculpture that has multiple planes, therefore creating not just an illusion of, but literal depth into a picture.

Thematically it is quite obvious if you know the title of the piece.
It's about taking the whole of life head on in all it's grueling whim's and throes, still not giving up even if some of it goes to your very core and leaves a gaping wound for all to see.
In time you'll heal and move on as a better human being even if the wound remains.

It is essentially a plywood box with a hole in it and an intricate web-like structure covering it. Inside there is a copperplate which I patinated with various acids. The top surface is white oil paint which I grimed mostly with graphite dust.
I'm very pleased in how it turned out! I plan on making a few more in this style. And as usual, be sure to check additional pictures in my gallery to get a better sense of the depth and texture. Thanks for watching!
